About the Recording

This recording was taken on the Mogollon Rim and was whitnessed by Mitch, Shannon, Jerry, Sterling, Ryan, Clay, and Mary.  All agreed it was not anything they had heard before. Six of them are experienced Arizona hunters.  And all have spent a great deal of time in the outdoors.  It was not a coyote, cat, bear, elk, or wolf.   It started some distance away, but kept getting closer.  When it got to the top of the hill overlooking our camp, we started to chase it.  When we got too close it quit.  We returned to camp thinking it was over, but it started up again.  It came back and was taunting us to chase it again.  It finally quit, and the rest of the night was quiet.  GET THE CD WHICH HAS ALL 21:18 MINUTES OF THE EVENT!

THERE ARE NO WHIP POOR WILLS IN ARIZONA.  IN FACT THEY ARE ONLY FOUND EAST OF EAST TEXAS.  COMPARE OUR RECORDING TO AN ACUTAL BIRD CLICK HERE.  WHILE THERE CHECK OUT THEIR TERRITORY MAP.  OUR RECORDING WAS IN THE HEART OF THE MOGOLLON RIM.  THE WHISTLES WERE ALWAYS FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER ACTIVITY SUCH AS ROCKS FLYING THROUGH THE AIR, OR A VISIT DURING THE NIGHT.

THIS VOCALIZATION WAS SENT TO US, BUT WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO VERIFY THE SOURCE.  THE STORY THAT CAME WITH THE RECORDING WAS--SHOTS WERE FIRED IN THE DISTANCE AND A SHORT TIME LATER THIS VOCALIZATION WAS RECORDED.  BIGFOOT?  BEAR?  T-REX? :)

AS STATED BEFORE, THE MOGOLLON MONSTER/BIGFOOT CAN MIMIC BIRD CALLS AND THEY CAN WHISTLE.  Whistling Mouth--from Kuakiutl Tribe states that the hairy man whistles to bring you out.  IN THIS RECORDING, MITCH HEARS TWO WHISTLERS AND DECIDES TO JOIN IN.  AT THE FIRST OF THE RECORDING MITCH IS WALKING TO THE BUSHES WHERE THE WHISTLING WAS HEARD.  HE WHISTLES AND THE REPLY COMES SHORTLY AFTER. ONCE THE WHISTLER REALIZES HE IS TALKING TO A HUMAN (VIA WHISTLES) IT GETS VERY EXCITED.   

APPROXIMATELY 1:30AM ON THE NIGHT OF THE WHISTLER WE RECORDED A VARIETY OF OUT OF PLACE BIRD CALLS  INCLUDING AN EAGLE SCREAM.  EAGLES DON'T DO THIS, BUT SOMETHING ELSE DID.

RIGHT BEFORE DAWN WE RECORDED THESE LAST VOCALICATIONS.  THEN THERE WAS A BELLOW LIKE WE HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE THAT SILENCED EVERYTING.  THERE WAS NOT MORE CHATTER.  UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE UN ABLE TO RECORD THE BELLOW. 

On 14 September, 2010; David and I just had a close encounter of the scary kind.  We were at one of our hot spots  Monday and Today.  We had set up camp with my surveilance equipment all centered on a picnic table where we left some goodies hopefully for one of our Bigfoot Friends.  There was no way anything could get to the table without a full frontal photo!

We bedded down in the command center not 25 yards away.  There was another couple of campers we had met in the campground.  We told them what we were doing, and commented how during the previous night, they had heard some strange sounds.  Kind of like a coyote, but not quite it.  More of a moan to the sound.  They were a good 100 yards from us.  I think we scared them because once it got dark, they were in their trailer and did not come out.

About 10pm we picked up some chatter and a few faint whistles.  But nothing to get excited about.  David and I both fell asleep.  Approximately 1am I was awakened by a fairly loud moan/howl.  Sounded much like some vocalications we had heard before.  I turned on my Sound Amp and started recording.  As I slipped on my headsets to monitor the noice, I began to pick up heavy breathing.  I pulled off the head sets and looked at David to make sure it wasn't him.  He was awake and looking at me.  I put the head sets back on and made sure the tape recorder was still running.  The breaths were just on the other side of the plywood.  They were longer than a normal breath of air.  Kind of like when a doctor askes you to breath deeply and then exhale.  I wanted to make sure that anyone listing to the tape would not think it was David or I so I whispered to him and he replies, and you can still hear the breathing over our whispers.  There was defenately something big out there.  I was expecting the trailer to rock at any moment, but it never did.  And then it went away. 

We checked the area for foot prints, there were none.  However I did notice that not even my truck left tire prints on the hard packed dirt.  We checked the cameras, and there was nothing.  But, remember, the cameras were all trained on the picnic table.  We were totally out foxed.
